At Old National, it is our mission to exceed the expectations of clients, shareholders and associates. To exceed the expectations of our associates, we are committed to creating a diverse and exceptional work environment where associates can excel in their careers. This environment of excellence helps us develop opportunities that enable us to be an “employer of choice.” The stories here will introduce you to Old National through some of the unique experiences of our associates.

“I think diversity means accepting and respecting other cultures and taking the time to understand our cultural differences. Making people feel comfortable and welcome is important to all of us. And in the workplace, customers take notice. Taking the time to learn and understand cultural differences goes a long way towards improving our workplaces and communities. We’ve all had experiences with companies that did not truly care about their employees or customers, let alone creating a comfortable, diverse environment. I’ve worked in places where I felt like I was treated differently, like an outsider, and was never comfortable. But, I’m very happy to say that I’ve never been made to feel that way at Old National. I have a wonderfully supportive manager and I’m part of a great team and a company that has accepted me with open arms. It has been such a good experience - I wouldn’t change a thing!”

“The fact is that the world is a very diverse place - encompassing a lot of different types of people with different backgrounds and cultures. And we all want to achieve the same goal of success. If you’re smart, you understand the importance of a diverse workplace and you embrace it. We spend more time at work than anywhere else. It is important to understand and build relationships with your coworkers - it’s like a little family. In the short time that I’ve been a part of Old National, I’ve been very happy with the corporate structure and the openness to ideas. Old National makes it apparent that they are truly committed to work/life balance and diversity in the workplace and community. As a board member for the Indiana Latino Community Development Corporation, a small but growing non-profit organization supporting the growing Latino community in Indiana, it means a lot to me to see the spirit of community outreach and volunteerism at Old National. I’m very pleased to work for a company that realizes that reaching out to everyone benefits customers, employees, the company and most importantly, the community.”

"As a high school football coach for the past 12 years and an active Kiwanis
member, I’ve had the great opportunity to work with many children from very
diverse backgrounds. Through these experiences I’ve learned to really listen and
to think about how another individual with a different perspective might view a
situation. I was honored to be asked to serve on Old National’s Diversity
Advisory Council and have the chance to contribute and share those experiences.
Being a part of the council has opened eyes to the different types of diversity.
By understanding diversity we are better able to meet the needs of our clients,
co-workers and community. We all want to see each other succeed and work
together to become a well-rounded organization. And any time you can involve a
lot of people around a common purpose like ‘exceeding expectations’ - it’s a
wonderful thing."

"When
I moved to Indianapolis from North Carolina I was working for another company.
Then one day, just as we rented our apartment, I drove by the Clay Terrace banking
center and thought how great it would be to work there. Not too much later,
I attended the Black Expo and met an Old National representative. I was so impressed
with her – and happily, the next day she called me. Now I’ve been
working here two years. I love working for Old National, and now I am so pleased
to be part of the Diversity Advisory Council. Since I am from India, I thought
I could contribute my own experiences and insights on concerns and issues that
our clients and other employees might share. But what was surprising to me is
how much I am learning about diversity. That knowledge is making me a better
manager and a better coworker."

I came to
Evansville from New York City about four years ago and people still ask me “Why
did you move?” Obviously, I came with some pre-conceived notions; especially
having grown up in New York that anything west was country and farms. The real
surprise was Evansville wasn’t anything we imagined and ended up being
a pleasant place. The reality is that my wife and I wanted a place to settle
down, buy a home, start a family and Evansville has been that place. It will
be our home, by choice, for a very long time. People here really do operate
on a philosophy of “pay it forward.” For someone from the “Big
City,” Evansville was a breath of fresh air. A lot of people appreciate
the values of community and of Old National. I am impressed by the geographical
diversity and backgrounds Old National associates represents. We’ve got
associates from all over the U.S. – California, Utah, Michigan, Rhode
Island – who are choosing to make their home here. It makes us a much
stronger organization and great place to work.
