Applying for a Grant

What you need to know before you apply.

Please read through the following information before you apply for a grant.  In addition, many of your questions may be answered in our FAQs.  Click here to read some of the most frequently asked questions.

To be considered for grant funding, organizations must:

• Have non-profit, tax-exempt status under Section 501 (c)(3) and 509 (A) of the IRS Code
• Be located in or provide service to communities within ONB’s footprint

What we look for in an applicant organization:

• Fiscal stability
• Mission closely related to the Foundation’s priorities, which are Community & Economic Development and Education
• Strong leadership/governance
• Active, engaged Board of Directors
• Diverse Board and Staff; reflective of the community being served
• Strategic planning process
• Broad community support

When reviewing proposals, preference is given to projects/programs that:

• Fit closely with the Foundation’s funding priorities, which are Community & Economic Development and Education
• Benefit the community as a whole and are large in scope and impact
• Address community needs related to our funding priorities
• Set clear, measurable goals and offer realistic solutions to the need being addressed
• Include financial commitments from a variety of sources
• Utilize an effective evaluation plan specific to the proposed program/project
• Do not duplicate existing programs

About the Process

The Old National Bank Foundation utilizes a two-step application process. In order to be considered for funding, organizations must first complete an initial application to be reviewed by the Foundation’s staff.
