Old National Associates Get a Jump on School Supplies

Henderson, Kentucky, associates wanted to get a “jump” on purchasing school supplies for the students in their community, and one particular associate took that jump literally.

Back to school was the theme for the third quarterly collection drive in celebration of Old National’s 175th anniversary. Banking center lobbies throughout the footprint displayed stacks of notebooks, crayons, scissors and more to donate to schools and local non-profit organizations to assist students in need. Collectively more than 21,600 items were donated to 71 different community organizations.

But Tony Krampe, Henderson Market President, took a unique approach to help raise funds to purchase school supplies. He pole vaulted 12 feet at the Henderson Bluegrass Festival's Jammin' and Jumpin' event held on August 8.

Fellow associates supported Tony and his cause by pledging money per foot jumped, and he collected over $400 for his pole vaulting performance. Kana Greubel, teller and coordinator of Henderson's 175th Celebration of Giving, explained that additional school supplies were purchased and added to those collected in the banking center. The money was also used to clothe three children for back to school through the Volunteer and Information Center's "Clothe-a-Kid program."

The fourth and final quarterly collection drive will be for winter clothing accessories and be held November 20 – December 11. Watch for more details from your regional representative.

The Lafayette area banking centers donated the school supplies they collected to the Hanna Community Center.
