Champion for CommunitySteve Blinn, Vincennes RegionLending a hand for United Way Day of Caring
Last year, one benefiting organization was the newly-renovated YMCA Day Camp in Vincennes, Indiana. The Day Camp was in need of beautification, and Steve joined a group responsible for digging and planting more than 100 trees at the Day Camp. In previous years, Steve has assisted with a range of Day of Caring jobs, including tree trimming, landscape maintenance and painting. Benefiting organizations in Vincennes have included PACE, the Salvation Army, the YMCA, a local food bank and Harbor House. Says Steve, “In today’s economy, agencies are experiencing significant budget cuts. The Day of Caring is a way of helping these agencies get work accomplished with volunteer help that would normally cost them valuable financial resources.” He adds, “We are fortunate to be part of an organization (Old National) that is committed to helping local communities. While some other financial institutions are reducing or eliminating community support, Old National highly encourages associates to support organizations with our time and talents.”
