Old National honored by ABA Foundation for Money $afety for Seniors program
Posted: Oct 11, 2018
Old National Bank was nationally recognized by the American Bankers Association Foundation for its Money $afety for Seniors program with a 2018 ABA Foundation
Community Commitment Award. The award was given to Old National for its efforts in the Protecting Older Americans category.
The program was created to provide Old National Bank associates, clients and community members with the tools to recognize, respond to and avoid financial abuse – specifically abuse aimed at seniors (65+). Those who complete the Money $afety for Seniors program walk away smarter, savvier, more confident and with step-by-step instructions on how to recognize and report senior financial abuse.
“Old National and our associates are always working to find new ways to positively impact our communities, and the Money $afety for Seniors program allows us to do just that,” said Bob Jones, Old National Chairman & CEO. “Fraud and financial abuse targeting seniors is a growing problem, and we are humbled that the ABA has recognized our efforts to arm seniors and their caregivers with the tools they need to avoid becoming victims.”
Entries were divided into six categories including affordable housing, community and economic development, financial education, economic inclusion, protecting older Americans and volunteerism. Award winners were chosen by a field of nationally-recognized experts. The selection committee chose six banks based on the creativity and thoughtfulness of programs — traditional or innovative in nature and structure — that embody the ideals of corporate social responsibility and demonstrate success in measurable terms.
“Old National demonstrates strong and passionate commitment to bettering the lives of its customers and local community,” said Rob Nichols, ABA president and CEO. “Their work embodies the mission of the Community Commitment Awards and they are a truly well-deserved recipient.”
