Rafael Sanchez joins Old National Bank as president of Private Banking
Former Indianapolis Power and Light Co. (IPL) president and CEO Rafael Sanchez has joined Evansville-based Old National Bank as President of Private Banking. Sanchez, who is based in Indianapolis, leads a team that focuses on the unique needs of Private Banking clients throughout Old National’s five-state footprint.

Sanchez began his professional career in 1999 as a retail banker with National City Bank in Fort Wayne. Most recently, he was president and CEO of IPL. As CEO of IPL, he was responsible for stakeholder management, community relations, customer experience, legislative and government affairs, energy-efficiency initiatives and strategic accounts. Additionally, he implemented a strategic community engagement plan that focused on diversity and inclusion. Prior to his time at IPL, Sanchez was Vice President of Business Development & Legal Affairs for Fineline Printing Group. Previous to that, he was a business attorney at the law firm of Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP in Indianapolis, where he was recognized as Indianapolis’s “Best & Brightest” attorney in 2013.
A native of Puerto Rico, Rafael earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences and Political Science from the University of Puerto Rico, and his law degree from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. A passionate community leader and volunteer, Rafael serves as Co-Chair for the Indianapolis 2021 NBA All-Star Game, Co-Chair for the Governor’s Annual Boy Scouts Luncheon, and Secretary for the Indy Championship Fund. He also serves as an Executive Committee member for United Way of Central Indiana and Vice-Chair of the Indiana Latino Institute. In 2017, he received the Sagamore of the Wabash award from Governor Eric Holcomb.
