Old National helped launch the third Bank On program in the U.S. back in 2008, which focuses on helping unbanked Americans gain access to mainstream financial services. In 2016, Old National created ONB EZ Access Checking, a Bank On-certified account. Bank On-certified accounts are safe, affordable transaction accounts designed for those who might not otherwise have access to a checking account.
While FDIC statistics on unbanked Americans show improvement between 2017 and 2019, some demographic categories still face obstacles in accessing financial services. In this podcast, Ben also talks about the importance of financial education, and the strong role it plays at Old National, when assisting unbanked individuals.
