How the Old National Bank Foundation Funds Affordable Housing
Old National has always focused on strengthening and supporting the communities we serve. In 2025, we invested over $4.2 million in our communities via grants to 275 organizations, many in the affordable housing category.
“In 2025, the Old National Bank Foundation focused on what it takes to create lasting change,” said Old National Bank Foundation President Joe Kiser. “This includes stable housing, access to economic opportunity and the tools people need to build financial security. By investing alongside trusted community partners, we’re helping move families and neighborhoods from resilience to real, long‑term progress.”
In 2025, 98% of all ONB Foundation grant funding supported CRA-eligible initiatives, and 72% of grants served underrepresented communities.
Here are just a handful of affordable housing initiatives funded in 2025 through our foundation:
Movin’ Out, Inc. – Madison, Wisconsin
ONB Foundation funding supports Movin’ Out’s Home Renewal Assistance Fund, which offers 0% interest deferred loans for essential home repairs and accessibility modifications for low‑income homeowners with disabilities. These improvements help residents maintain safe, stable, and independent living environments while reducing the risk of displacement or costly emergency repairs. By preserving affordable housing stock and ensuring homes remain livable for individuals with complex needs, the program strengthens both personal well‑being and long‑term community stability.
Housing Opportunities and Maintenance for the Elderly (H.O.M.E.) – Chicago, Illinois
H.O.M.E.’s critical home repair services allow low‑income seniors to age safely in place, preserving both housing stability and accumulated home equity in historically undervalued neighborhoods. Preventing hazardous living conditions reduces displacement risk and protects one of the most important assets families hold.
Empowerment Academy – Owensboro & Daviess County, Kentucky
The Empowerment Academy provides safe, long‑term, debt‑free housing for at‑risk youth, offering stability alongside academic support, meals, and life‑skills training. ONB Foundation investment helps ensure that students have a secure home environment while they work toward educational, personal, and financial goals. By stabilizing housing for vulnerable youth and pairing it with supportive services, the program advances both short‑term safety and long‑term economic mobility.
CASS Housing – Fort Wayne, Indiana
CASS Housing provides long‑term, supportive residential options for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, offering individualized services that prioritize dignity, autonomy, and community integration. ONB Foundation funding supports comprehensive initiatives that help residents maintain stable housing, build independent‑living skills, and experience increased quality of life. By creating inclusive, affordable housing solutions for individuals who face persistent barriers, the program strengthens community cohesion and long‑term housing security.
A Step Beyond – Chicago, Illinois
The “From Tenant to Title” program removes structural barriers to homeownership for Housing Choice Voucher holders by combining financial education with safety repairs and loan closing support. By helping families transition from renting to owning, the program intentionally promotes generational wealth‑building and long‑term neighborhood stability.
