In 2017, Old National associates taught 1,065 total sessions of financial education reaching 19,910 people. This commitment led to Old National's Financial Empowerment Director Ben Joergens being named the National Financial Educators Council (NFEC) 2017 Financial Educator of the Year.
In an online news release about the award, the NFEC noted that Ben was chosen because of his "commitment and contributions to bringing financial education to the at risk and underserved, all conducted in the spirit of partnership and collaboration."
Received in recognition of Old National's 12 Steps to Financial Success program, which empowers at-risk adults, specifically those incarcerated for non-violent offenses, to take control of their future and achieve financial success. In 2015, Old National won the ABA Community Commitment Award in Financial Education for this program.
Ben Joergens, Old National's Financial Empowerment Officer, received this prestigious honor in 2015 after reaching more than 5,000 individuals the previous year through partnerships with 27 different nonprofit organizations, schools and universities.
