Old National Bank and Military Appreciation Month: Supporting Veterans and Strengthening Communities
Each May during Military Appreciation Month, communities across the country recognize the service of those who have served. At Old National Bank, military appreciation is not limited to a single month. It is reflected in how we support veterans, military families, and communities throughout the year.
A workplace that values military experience
Old National has been recognized as a 2026 Military Friendly® Employer, a designation awarded to organizations that demonstrate a sustained commitment to recruiting, developing, and retaining veterans and military spouses. The recognition reflects the bank’s broader efforts to support veterans as they transition to civilian careers through meaningful roles, professional growth, and a culture grounded in respect and inclusion.
Supporting veterans in the workplace goes beyond hiring. It means creating an environment where veterans and military families can connect, grow, and contribute in ways that reflect their experience and strengths.
Military Veterans Impact Network -- turning appreciation into action
Old National’s Military Veterans Impact Network (MVIN) is an employee‑led network open to all team members who are passionate about supporting veterans, service members, and their families.
“The Military Veterans Impact Network helps us turn appreciation into action,” said Chris Osterfund, Treasury Management Client Services Supervisor and ONB’s National Co‑Chair of MVIN. “It creates opportunities for veterans, spouses, and allies to connect, support one another, and make a meaningful impact both within the bank and in the communities we serve.”
MVIN focuses its work across three core areas: professional development, community involvement, and business enablement. Through education, volunteerism, and awareness building, the network helps foster understanding, connection, and support across Old National’s footprint.
Supporting veterans in the community
Through MVIN and local partnerships, Old National team members support initiatives that honor service, raise awareness, and address challenges veterans face after returning home.
Team members participate in events such as:
- Wreaths Across America, helping place wreaths on the graves of fallen service members to ensure their sacrifices are remembered
- Teams in select communities support Field of Flags displays that honor local veterans and invite reflection on the stories behind each flag
- The Sanctuary on the Hill, a veteran‑focused initiative led by the nonprofit Mission First in the Evansville area. Designed as a nature‑based retreat, the sanctuary provides space and programming that supports veterans’ well‑being and transition to civilian life.
- Initiatives focused on veteran well‑being, including events like the Chicago Veterans Ruck March, which raises awareness and funds for mental health and suicide prevention efforts.
These initiatives combine education, volunteer support, and fundraising to drive meaningful impact.
Supporting veterans and their families
Military service affects entire families, and Old National recognizes the importance of supporting spouses, caregivers, and loved ones. Through partnerships with nonprofit organizations and community programs, the bank supports efforts focused on housing stability, mental health resources, and access to essential services.
Donation drives and volunteer initiatives help address immediate needs while also raising awareness around the broader challenges many veterans face during reintegration.
Military appreciation at Old National Bank is rooted in action, consistency, and long‑term commitment.
Whether through workplace inclusion, employee‑led initiatives, or community partnerships, Old National remains focused on supporting veterans and military families in meaningful ways.
